06-20-1983 Merriweather Post Pavilion

One of the most inclement weather shows in the band's history. First set is decent, the stage sound is really uneven in Minglewood, but gets smoothed out, the set closing Music is on the money, great version. The rain is coming down in buckets in the second set. The band kicks out a strong China>Rider, Samson smokes, He's Gone is nicely paced and mellow, from here there are multiple lightning strikes that are caught on tape, Truckin' and Wharf Rat must be listened to, Bob Star briefly confuses the lightning, the Sugar Magnolia appears to be a Garcia call as he tears into the intro, Weir gives us a silly aborigine rap at the end. Baby Blue was always a good choice for an encore.

Only audience sources exist for this show. This Grabski source is a very good, listenable audience, sounds thick.
